Installation by Carole King

Many flowers contain hidden patterns which guide insects to pollinate them.
These colours exist in the area of the spectrum not normally seen by the human eye .
Hidden messages, revealed under blacklight, are a recurring idea found in many paintings and installation pieces.

The Common Field Poppy  also has many  other local  names which are often highly descriptive. Names such as 'Headache'  refer to its reputed property of both causing and curing headaches, while others such as Old Womans Petticoat  are obvious.
Extravagance, pleasure and consolation are some of the meanings attributed to the Common Field Poppy by the Victorians 'Language of Flowers'  These text elements can be seen when the painting is illuminated by blacklight.
